On the property

Enjoy a private outdoor spa overlooking Lake Wairarapa. Picnic in your own private outdoor garden area with views over the lake. Take a bush walk on the property on our marked walking track which will take you to beautiful views over the region. Guided walks with friendly pet goats are available by arrangement.

Five minutes drive will see you at the Remutaka Rail Trail which can be cycled or walked.

Within a 30-minute drive

Featherston township is just up the road from our bed and breakfast accommodation, and there you'll find the award-winning cheese shop and café C'est Cheese, a must-visit spot. Other cafes and restaurants will make you feel welcome too: Brac n Bow at the Royal Hotel, Everest Cafe, and Loco. Book lovers must spend a day perusing the many book stores and mark Booktown in their calendars, a popular weekend book festival held in May each year.  

Martinborough is a local wine-producing region of New Zealand. Many boutique wineries open their doors for tastings and meals. Join an organised tour, hire a bike, drive or even walk yourself around the wineries. Our favourites ,Tirohana Estate and Poppies, need to be on your list.

Swim in Lake Ferry and dine on the famous Lake Ferry Pub fish and chips while detouring past rugged Ocean Beach, where you can see the South Island on a clear day. 

Cross Creek historical site is nearby, and this is also the start or finish of the Remutaka Rail Trail, depending which which direction you take.

Further afield

A visit to this part of the NZ isn't complete without visiting the remarkable Putangirua Pinnacles where scenes from Lord of the Rings were filmed.  Travel just 10 minutes further to see a seal colony, the rugged Palliser Bay coast, and the Palliser Lighthouse.

Stunning Castlepoint and Riversdale Beaches are worth a drive also. On the way, make sure to stop into Queen Elizabeth Gardens and Hensley Park in Masterton.
